This document was kindly provided by O1eg Gordievsky, former KGB colonel and station chief in Copenhagen and London, who defected to Britain in 1985. It represents part of  instructions from the Head of the KGB First Chief Directorate (foreign int1ligence) General Kruchkov to all station chiefs, and was published in "Instructions from the Centre - Top Secret Files on KGB Foreign Operations 1975-1985", ed.
